All emergencies will require a different response; Some emergencies you may encounter at work Include:
- A medical emergency – heart, asthma attacks etc
- Armed hold up or intrusion
- Suspicious Package
- Cyclone – extreme weather
The response for these emergencies is available on the Emergency Procedure wall chart in your work area. Please familiarise yourself with these procedures.
PROCEDURES FOR ARMED INTRUSION / HOLDUPS
- Stay calm and obey the demands of the offender
- If cash or company property is requested- supply it
- Observe the characteristics of the offender:
- skin colour.
- hair.
- tattoos.
- height.
- speech & weapon.
- Do not follow the intruder on departure
- When able to do so contact the Chief Warden and dial 000
When able, write the characteristic information down to assist the Police.
